Dress for Celebration will be causal.

I’m sure everyone knows how difficult it has been to encourage qualified Moose members to take the next step to becoming a Moose Legionnaire. I have encountered circumstances of my fellow Brothers, who, for one reason or another, cannot afford to pay the extra dues at this time.
Moose Legionnaires, let’s roll up our sleeves, and put a plan together to raise enough money to help. We have many Lodge members, who are qualified to become Legionnaire’s, and future officers and leaders of their prospective Lodges. Let’s help them, please!! Do a fund raiser…a Pic 3…50/50 raffle…..if your Lodge has “Moose Bucks”, raffle off $100.00 worth; it is amazing how members will spend a dollar or two to win $100.00 worth of Moose Bucks. The money will stay in your Lodge and you will be helping out your fellow Brothers from the proceeds raised.
Blue Ridge Moose Legion #82 is committed to be the very best and meet the goals when Moose International requests our help on future projects…..so let’s get together and try to help our fellow Brothers become part of of Blue Ridge Moose Legion #82!!!
Our next annual celebration will be held at Piney River Moose Lodge #2032 on April 10th. Let’s work towards having the largest turnout of new Moose Legionnaires ever in Piney River.

My Fellow Moose Legionnaires,
I know that it gets old hearing about the retention of our fellow Moose Legionnaires but it is an on-going situation that each and everyone need to remember and work on. These times are not easy for anyone and a great deal of fraternalism is needed to keep our lodges going strong and providing for our members. One of the best ways to do this is through the Moose Legion in each lodge. Your lodge should have at least one activity a month for their Moose Legionnaires; after all they are the major group “who make things happen, the men who get things done”. This is easily accomplished through the monthly MLC meeting.
Retention should be the most important item on your list, unfortunately this is a very large problem as we continue to get a few new members in but letting many of our existing members leave through “the back door”. We need to keep everyone advised and active within the Moose Legion, this only helps to keep our brothers. It is hard to let everyone know but the dropped figure for this past quarter of Moose Legion 82 is right at 13%. The best way to have this percentage decrease is to look at the list which is given to each Moose Legion Assistant Secretary, find a brother on the list which you know and ask them to come back to the Moose Legion. Invite them to your next monthly MLC meeting and the next celebration which is in Piney River on April 10. At the same time, look at list of your brothers who are eligible to join the Moose Legion and get them interested, sign them up and get them active ASAP.
I have faith that each of you can and will work toward the goal of having 100% participation in your MLC and that with your help Blue Ridge Moose Legion 82 can and will be back on the top once again.

For the first time – Moose Legion Medal of Honor “qualified members” will be invited to participate in the Moose 25 Club
Party at the International Convention.

What is “qualified”?
It is really pretty simple, and mirrors the 25 Club program itself:

If a Moose Legionnaire earns the Medal of Honor during the
2009 – 2010 fiscal year by achieving 50 lifetime membership units in the program, He has then QUALIFIED.

If a Moose Legionnaire is already a Medal of Honor holder and earns five (5) membership units during the 2009 – 2010 fiscal year, He has then QUALIFIED.

If a Moose Legionnaire is qualified in both the 25 club and the Medal of Honor program (by either attaining them during the year and / or being credited with 5 membership units in each) –He is then QUALIFIED to get upgraded seating to the next better level of seating corresponding to his 25 Club Level.

How close are you to achieving the Medal of Honor ?
- or – how close are you to earning five units for the year -
if you have already previously earned the Medal of Honor?
We have until April 30th to sponsor and have the units reported.
